It could be due to fate or money, but many people stick to jobs they don’t like. If money was not a problem, many people would quit their jobs and do something they find more fulfilling. If money was not a problem, which job would you do? Here are some dream jobs Reddit users would do if they were not after money.

Woodworking

Woodworking is such a cool thing to do for business or as a hobby, especially in this age of DIY crafts. Imagine being able to make custom furniture and decor to suit your needs.

One commenter, revealing their dream job, said, “Woodworking. It is an instrumental skill. You could craft stuff for yourself, redecorate your house, try to be innovative and create something new, make gifts to everyone you like.”

Other than pursuing a career or hobby that lets you tap deeper into your creativity, woodwork would be an opportunity to repurpose and give a second life to pre-maturely disposed furniture.

Full-Time Traveling

While there are many ways to travel on a budget, everybody would love to experience luxury travel or even get paid to travel.

An absolute fantasy for many people would be where they can pack their bags and escape to any destination. One commenter said, “I would just travel anywhere and everywhere. I would love to spend a year or more living in a place and then move on. I would also spend a lot of time near or on the ocean so I can scuba dive.”

Is there any better way to spend time as an adrenaline junkie than race car driving?

If money were not a problem for a group of commenters, they would spend all their time racing, or even get into it professionally.  Unfortunately, getting into the career, sharpening the skills or joining a racing club can be very expensive

One of the commenters said, “Race car driver. No hobby is more financially insecure, so assuming that is taken care of… I can’t imagine anything better. “

Probably the most laid-back and relaxed job on the list. It would also be the ultimate job for anyone that loves art, and would love to give a platform to local and unrecognized artists.

One of the commenters said, “I’d open an art gallery/patisserie. I’d buy and sell local artwork. Talk about art all day. Eat macarons. Bake croissants. I’d die happy, for sure.”

Farmer

Getting into farming full-time may mean escaping the noisy town life. A section of commenters in the thread expressed that they would buy vast tracts of land in the countryside and become full-time farmers if they had the money.

This, and the thought of producing your food and food for sale, is a significant motivational factor.

One said, “I’d love to start my little farm and sell stuff at a Farmer’s Market every weekend. We have a bit of land with our house now and have used some free space to grow potatoes, peas, rhubarb, raspberries, and zucchini. I want nothing more than to return to a quieter homesteading lifestyle vs. the humdrum and tediousness of city life.”

Music

Music is one of the unfair careers in today’s world. Not every good musician gets the recognition they deserve. And those that do are not always necessarily good.

For those trying to break free into the music industry, money becomes a problem, and they have to either quit or have music as a hobby.

One commenter said, “If money were not a problem, I would do music. I wouldn’t even care if I made a career out of it. If I had the time, I could finish writing a dang song.”

Pet Rescue

The life of spending time with cats and dogs all day would be an absolute dream for many people. Imagine spending the entire day feeding, grooming, playing, and spoiling pets without worrying about money.

One commenter expressed their dream of getting into the philanthropic side of it: “I’d start a cat rescue. I could spend my life petting cats and ensuring they get good homes. One of mine would be opening a cat retirement home. Sometimes people can’t handle the health issues of an older pet, or they move into care…hence my cat retirement home.”

Voice Acting

Whether it is about being the voice behind characters in animation films or voicing TV and radio adverts, a few commenters agreed that breaking into the voice acting industry is not a walk in the park.

There is usually a substantial upfront investment people have to make. Besides, the industry typically goes for already established figures.

But what if money was not an issue? One commenter said, “I’ve thought of doing voice acting myself. It’s a hard industry, but if money’s not a concern, you can get some great equipment and build a nice demo doing volunteer work.”

Run a Bookstore

Owning or working in a bookstore can only be a wild fantasy for people who love to read. It can be a great chance to spend the day reading, fixing damaged books, and recommending great reads to clients.

One comment in the thread said, “Start a used book store. Collect rare/out-of-print books, learn how to restore/rebind the old ones, and sell them with regularly used books. There will probably be an espresso machine, comfy couches and chairs, and a friendly dog.”

Acting and Filmmaking

Today’s film world is such a hard nut to crack. People that are making it big in it are the ones who have been doing it for ages. The competition for the newcomers seems to be incredibly stiff.

People passionate about acting often have to forget about it and find conventional jobs to pay their bills. Besides, acting is very time-consuming, even as a hobby. The filming season often means long working hours for the cast and crew.

If these downsides could be overlooked, one commenter would pursue their dream job: “Filmmaking / Acting. It was such a passion of mine in high school, but now in college, I have little time or money.”
