Boredom Be Gone: 10 Creative Road Trip Games to Play

Would You Rather

This game is perfect for getting to know your road trip companions better. One person asks a “would you rather” question, and everyone else has to choose between two options. For example, “Would you rather have to wear a tutu for the entire road trip or have to eat nothing but peanut butter for every meal?”

Name That Tune

Put on some music and challenge each other to name the song and artist as quickly as possible. You can also make it more challenging by limiting the playlist to a specific genre or time period.

20 Questions

One person thinks of a person, place, or thing, and everyone else has 20 yes-or-no questions to figure out what it is. This game can get pretty silly, so don’t be afraid to come up with ridiculous answers.

The License Plate Game

This game requires a bit of creativity. Each person chooses a license plate and creates a backstory for the driver based on the letters and numbers on the plate. For example, “KLM 123” might stand for “Karen’s Llama Mobile with 123 llamas in the back.”

Categories

Choose a category, like “types of fruit” or “movies starring Tom Hanks,” and take turns naming items in that category. If someone can’t come up with an answer, they’re out.

The Alphabet Game

One person says a word, and everyone else has to come up with a word that rhymes with it. This is another game can get pretty silly, so be prepared for some ridiculous rhymes!
