Since we live in Skagit Valley, we’ve visited the tulip fields many times. This area is a great place to spend a few days exploring since there’s so much to see and do! As for hotels, you’ll find everything from budget to luxury, and family friendly to B & B. Skagit Tulip Festival Dates
The annual festival is April 1 – April 30, 2023. The closer it gets to April, the more important it is to get your hotel booked.
Although there are several new hotels in the area and the extra rooms help with the influx of visitors, chances are good the one you want will be full if you wait too late to make reservations.
The good news is most hotels offer a refundable option, so even if you aren’t 100% sure of your plans, as long as you cancel within the timeframe allowed, you won’t be out anything.
Make plans now, cancel if needed. You’ll be happy you did it that way!

Luckily, there are quite a few places to stay near Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. The tulip fields are located in an area that makes it easy to get to, no matter where you stay in the Valley.

If you choose a Mount Vernon hotel, you’ll have easy access to and from the tulip fields via Hwy 535/Memorial Hwy.
You may also enjoy visiting the downtown area and if you’re in town on the third weekend in April, be sure to attend the Downtown Mount Vernon Street Fair.

Mount Vernon and Burlington are separated by the Skagit River and you’ll find pretty much anything you’ll need for your trip on Burlington Blvd.
Burlington has several newer hotels, plus quite a few restaurants to choose from. The tulips are best accessed from Hwy 20 if you decide to stay in Burlington.

Many people coming from out of town to see the Washington tulip fields spend part of a day exploring downtown La Conner. This quaint little town is the perfect place to stroll through the shops and find a place to each lunch by the water.

Although Oak Harbor is a little further drive from the tulip fields, you’ll cross Deception Pass Bridge on your way over. This is a tourist destination in itself.
If you stay the night on Whidbey Island, hopefully you can make some time to explore the beaches along the way. If the weather is nice, take a picnic to Rosario Beach or go for sunset. It’s worth it!

Even though Bellingham is about a half hour north, it may be worth it to get a little further away from crowds, especially if you’re visiting the tulip fields on the weekend.
Grab some dinner in Fairhaven District and take a stroll along the Bellingham Boardwalk. There’s even a coffee shop at one end to make the walk even better!

- Drive up Little Mountain in Mt. Vernon or Cap Sante in Anacortes and enjoy the view
